How To SSH

How Do I SSH Into My iPhone, iPad or iPod?

*1. First, You will need to install WinSCP (Windows) on your computer. DOWNLOAD HERE
*2. Next You need to make sure you install OpenSSH from cydia.
*3. Now you need to find the IP address of your device, to do this goto Settings/WiFi Click on the arrow next to the network you are connected to.
You should see something such as ip address 192.168.3.4. Write that down because you’re going to need it.
*4. Make sure you are on the same wireless network as your device and launch WinSCP.
*5. Once WinSCP opens, enter your devices’s IP Address into the Host Name Field.
Then enter root as your devices username and alpine as the password. Then click Login.
*6. You will now see WinSCP connecting to your iPhone. The first time you login using SSH, it may take 30-45 seconds.
*7. If a Warning dialogue pops up, click Update or Add
*8. After about 30-45 seconds, WinSCP should successfully log you into your iPhone.
You will be placed in the /private/var/root directory.
*9.To get to the root folder of the device you can select / from the dropdown on the right side of the window.
From here you can access all the folders on your device for example the Applications folder.
*10. Now you can transfer files from your computer. To transfer a file to your device simply find your specified file from the left side of the window and drag it over to the right side of the window into the directory you want it to go in.

For our themes, you are going to want to get in to the /private/var/stash directory and then drag your theme into the Themes folder making it available in Winterboard.
Open your Winterboard app, select the theme, respring, and enjoy!

*NOTE* It is a good idea to set your device to “AUTO LOCK NEVER” or it can disconnect. Settings>>>General>>>Auto-Lock and set to never.
